Benbow Lake State Recreation Area
The Benbow family, interested in preserving the natural scene around the Hotel and along the river, made efforts to place the land under State protection. In 1956 funds were approved for the Benbow Project was purchased in 1958. Today the park consists of campsites and a large day-use picnic area. Hiking, picnicking and camping are popular summer time activities, while salmon and steelhead fishing are popular in the winter. |
Humboldt Redwoods State Park
The Humboldt Redwoods Interpretive Association (HRIA) is a 501(c) non-profit, providing volunteer-run Visitor Centers at four State Parks in Humboldt County. We hope that you will stop by to get information about hikes, directions, ecology, history, as well as maps, brochures, books, and souvenirs. We strive to connect visitors and the community to the incredible Redwood Forest, in hopes of spreading appreciation and a passion for the conservation of the tallest trees in the world. |

Miranda Gardens Resort
Imagine quaint cottages surrounded by lush flowering gardens, drenched in dappled sunlight and framed by the majesty of the ancient redwoods. This is the Miranda Gardens Resort. Located on the famous Avenue of the Giants we have offered a tranquil year round retreat from the pressures of the everyday world since 1929. Cottages range from the simplest accommodations for one or two persons to the most luxurious including two bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen and convertible beds in the living room. Some have whirlpool bath tubs and fireplaces. All the cottages are furnished with antiques and have a private patio or deck, ideal for morning coffee and evening dining. All of the kitchens are fully equipped with dishes, flatware, and utensils. Each kitchen cottage also has its own barbecue. |

Richardson Grove State Park
A four-hour drive from San Francisco, the park features stunning coast redwoods more than three hundred feet tall and a national “wild and scenic” river (the South Fork of the Eel). Visitors can swim or wade in the river in summer and try catch-and-release fishing for salmon or steelhead in the winter. Check out the walk-through tree and the bat tree; learn from the tree-ring study conducted in 1933. You can camp, picnic, and hike on nine miles of trails. Don’t miss the gentle “racetrack” path, which passes many unusual redwoods, including a chandelier tree with multiple trunks branching several feet above the ground. |

Standish-Hickey State Recreation Area
Many couples select Humboldt Redwoods State Park each year for their wedding ceremony or reception location. The park has a variety of beautiful settings that provide the perfect place for that special day. Facilities, fees and the number of guests that can be accommodated vary based on the location in the park. Fees start at $250 and are required for all weddings/special events.
